It’s important to teach students how to fail. Failing doesn’t mean to avoid the struggle or to accept that this is the way things are and you are just not talented. At BASIRI Tutoring we observe time and time again students who once held the belief that they weren’t ‘math people’ or didn’t have ‘math talent’ went on to major in math related fields such as finance, economics, accounting, or engineering after they put in the effort to improve. It’s important to note that successful people that a lot of kids admire, such as their favourite athletes have all overcome challenges and struggles through hours of training and practice. No one is born talented, but one can become talented through mastering the process of learning, practicing, persevering, and learning from mistakes. It’s important that students understand how they should use failure to reach success.
